First off, let me just say that scissor seven has officially solidified itself as my favorite slice of life anime at the moment, and completely exceeded my initial expectations going into the show.
The pacing is amazing for a 13 min. show, and the comedic timing just splendid. It packs a colorful plot line each and every episode with such tight time constraints.
The animation is a work of passion and the art-style distinct and works really well with the overall tone and feel of the story. It carves out its own identity while also paying homage to its Japanese predecessor (Jojo’s reference everywhere).
The story, while not terrible , isn’t exactly the most ground breaking of plot lines. It’s pretty straightforward : misadventures of an amnesiac assassin and his sunglasses totting blue chicken side-kick. But what’s amazing is how the show doesn’t take itself too seriously. Because of the flexible , laid back nature of the show, it allows itself to dive into an almost innumerable array of backdrops and truly makes for a unique, almost anthology- like, experience each and every episode.
Overall, if you want a truly unique viewing experience and love to be surprised, treat yourself to some plain old slapstick comedy that is scissor seven.
