A gilded cage is still a cage. Ringing with clandestine encounters, promiscuity and secrecy, Netflix has announced the release date for its upcoming Spanish-language mini-series, Someone Has to Die (Alguien tiene que morir).

The limited series, set to premiere on October 16 is directed by the famed Mexican director, Manolo Caro, also known for The House of Flowers.Taking place within the conservative framework of 50s Spain, Someone Has to Die promises a riveting thriller spanning a total of three episodes. The official description of the mini series on Netflix reads: “In 1950s Spain, a couple summon their son home from Mexico to introduce him to his fiancée, but are shocked when he returns with a ballerino.”

This is the first time Caro will be seen working outside his niche, with it being his first project in Spain and a non-comedy. Nonetheless, Caro has expressed excitement regarding the upcoming show:“Alguien tiene que morir is a wonderful challenge, my first project in Spain and the first outside comedy, which I was very nervous about. Having this cast is a dream came true and makes everything easier. I was very excited to start and now it’s a reality”

Someone Has to Die will be featuring Carmen Maura, Cecilia Suárez, Ester Expósito, Ernesto Alterio, Alejandro Speitzer, Issac Hernández with Carlos Cuevas and Mariola Fuentes.
