Transformers One 2024 Movie Review
I am not a huge fan of Transformers but this movie had me teared up a little. Hear me out. This is not my first Transformers movie and based on the previous movies I’ve watched, I thought it would be another feel-good family-friendly movie with a cliché storyline. And I wasn’t expecting it to be that inspiring and entertaining to watch. The start of the movie was not draggy and I found myself sitting at the edge of the seat, wondering how the story would unfold. Here are some of my thoughts about the movie.
For once, they made the expressions on the Transformers’ faces human-like. You can read and feel the emotions going through these Autobots who are suited up in metal gear. It made the audience feel like they had a mind and heart of their own. They breathe life into the Cybertronian miner in the movie, Orion Pax, who had the ambition to find out the truth and the hope that there’s more to his life, than just mining.
As the story unfolds in the movie, I couldn’t help but think about the movies which have similar punchlines. It reminded me of ‘The Hunger Games’ and the Star Wars series of movies. However, when you apply the same storyline in this story about 2 heroic autobots fighting for the truth, it feels different. I was somehow able to empathize with these mechanical robots which supposedly do not have a soul.
In addition, I can’t help but notice there were a few biblical references in the movie. It talks about ‘hope’ that us Christians have (the world calls it optimism) and the spark in us that God has blessed us with. Because of that, some of the quotes in the movie were quite inspiring.
I love how some of the soundtracks were used effectively in some of the scenes to bring out the right atmosphere. I particularly enjoy one of the soundtracks used in one of the fighting scenes when B-127 was taking down the bad guys.
Overall, this movie gets a solid 8 out of 10. I left the cinema feeling inspired as the director of this film was able to bring out the human side of Transformers. Because of that, the audience was able to resonate well with the movie. After the movie preview of Transformers One, the audience clapped in unison. I have gone for movie previews before and not every movie receives a clap from the audience before they leave the cinema.
I am not a fan of Transformers but after watching this movie, I might be on the trajectory to become a fan of these sci-fi movie characters.
