Gyeongseong Creature Review 2023 Tv Show Series Season Cast Crew Online

Gyeongseong Creature Part 1 is a slow ride but still very enjoyable. This genre hybrid reels you into World War 2 Gyeongseong with a unique and pretty dark creature mystery.

The series follows two characters, Jang Tae-sang (played by Park Seo-joon). Jang is the owner of The House of Golden Treasure, the best pawn shop in Gyeongseong. The shop is run like Rick Harrison runs his in “Pawn Stars”, “Oh, your great great grandmothers crystal encrusted diamond watch? I can do $5.” Jang is also the best informant in Gyeongseong.

The other is Yoon Chae-ok (played by Han So-hee) who is traveling with her father, both her and her father are specialists in finding missing people. Jang and Yoon are in situations where they need to find someone they can’t. A new situation for both of them. They agree to help each other… eventually… and end up finding a bit more than they hoped to.

Gyeongseong Creature takes place in the spring of 1945 during World War 2. Japan currently rules South Korea but losing the war. Military biological experiments are going on at the Ongseong Hospital as they try to come up with a way to turn the tides. This is that “bit more than they hoped for”.

The first episode is the slowest, each character is trying to find their groove in the track, Jang the most so. With the vibe and aesthetic of the series, Park Seo-joon’s character felt out of place in the universe created. However, as mentioned, he finds his place. Han So-hee’s character spends most of the episode walking away but then delivering her lines turned back towards Jang. Luckily both only a problem for the first episode.

The series does take a few episodes to fully hook you, and even when it does, has a hard time reeling you in. The acting is obviously great from the all star cast, the dialogue is typical K-Drama cheese, and the special effects are, well, passable. The only thing I can pin this on is the pacing. Everything feels slow and the over 60 minute episode length doesn’t help the issue. Part 1 ends with a nice little cliffhanger and the story ends up building to something I am eagerly awaiting to see finish out in part 2 and beyond with the already confirmed season two.
