Rich in Love 2 2023 Movie Review

Rich in love 2 is a movie directed by Bruno Garotti, starring Danilo Mesquita and Giovanna Lancellotti.

Rich in Love 2 is an idealistic romcom full of good feelings and the best intentions in the world, with a dreamlike landscape in which, beyond the somewhat cliché story, we have the chance to see a bit of the Amazon and its people.

Another romantic comedy of those with the landscape as the protagonist, which may sound like Hoffmann to you but which, deep down, is much less romantic. The thing is like this: you make a “formula” movie, you place it in an idyllic setting, and you hope – and even pray – that people forget you made this movie.

Rich in Love 2 is a film about youth, love, and ideals. Deep down, everyone wants to save the Amazon (we are not going to go into topics of hot political issues, but we can say that the theme is right) and they all want to have a better life, not be greedy like their ancestors and make the world a better place. All of this is great and even I share those dreams, but as cinema, the treatment remains far below basic expectations, and the plot and characters don’t have enough entity to convince anyone.

A film that is almost a tv movie, with characters that fail to break the scheme and fail to convince in their evolution (which they do have). The antagonist (the rich man, of course) doesn’t work well and we aren’t moved by the idealistic speech that, deep down, isn’t enough to hide the lack of ideas or the fact that we’re dealing with a run-of-the-mill romcom cloth with an idealistic discourse. It’s just another product.

It has the merit of trying to escape from the cliché, of wanting to go further, but it’s always fearful in its treatment and incapable of getting out of a simple scheme of black and white for the simple-minded in a TV movie format.

Our Opinion

Good ideals, even brilliant, but low cinematographic quality in a film that doesn’t end up persuading us of the greatness of its arguments.

Storyline

When Paula leaves Rio de Janeiro to resume her work as a volunteer doctor in the Amazon, Teto hatches an impulsive plan to follow her — and chaos ensues.
