A woman’s body goes through all sorts of potentially scary transformations during pregnancy. It’s the natural result of hormones going crazy from a living being growing inside of another human body. But in the upcoming Quibi show, “The Expecting,” the typical pregnancy issues can’t touch what is happening to a young waitress.
As seen in the trailer, “The Expecting” tells the story of a young, down-on-her-luck waitress that wakes up in the middle of a dark forest with cuts and bruises. She then finds out that she’s pregnant and that’s just when the craziness ensues. The Mary Harron-directed series teases possible supernatural beings and conspiracies as the young woman has to figure out what’s going on behind the curtain and what the hell is growing in her stomach. Because whatever it is, it sure doesn’t seem…human. Obviously, the trailer fails to elaborate much further, as the series is clearly going to be full of plenty of shocks and surprises.
The series stars AnnaSophia Robb, Rory Culkin, Mira Sorvino, Hannah Murray, and Michael Gaston. Quibi’s latest thriller is directed by Harron, as mentioned. The filmmaker is probably best known for her work on the film, “American Psycho.” She also worked on films such as “Charlie Says,” “The Moth Diaries,” and “The Notorious Bettie Page.”
“The Expecting” debuts on Quibi on October 5 and will run a new episode every day until the finale on October 15. You can watch the trailer below.
